Our SEN partnership normally lives on the radio. This time, we took it into Garry Lyon’s shed.

As sponsors of Garry & Tim on SEN Breakfast, we’re used to connecting with Garry through our relationship with Sports Entertainment Network (SEN). When the opportunity came to help fit out his new shed, it gave our team a chance to bring that partnership into the work we do every day.

The setting was a little different from the warehouses and distribution centres we often share. The task, however, was familiar: understand what the space needed to do and help make it work better.

For Garry, that meant getting items off the floor, keeping things organised and having a dedicated place to work.

Starting with the space

A new shed gives you room to work with. Deciding how to use that room is where storage planning comes in.

Our team looked at what Garry needed to store and how he planned to use the shed. The aim was to create a setup that brought storage and workspace together, so the shed could accommodate both.

It’s a straightforward approach, but an important one. The storage should suit the way someone uses a space, rather than leave them working around it.

Giving everything its place

We supplied and installed Longspan Shelving and Speedlock Heavy Duty Shelving to help move items off the floor and make better use of the available room.

The shelving gave Garry somewhere to keep things organised, while the Speedlock Workbench added a dedicated working surface. Together, they addressed the two main parts of the brief: practical storage and a usable workspace.

The finished setup was simple and functional. Garry’s shed now had defined places for storage and work, giving the space more purpose and making it better suited to how he wanted to use it.

This project is a useful example of what thoughtful storage can achieve on a smaller scale. Each part of the setup had a clear role, and the combination was chosen around the space.

Beyond the airwaves

It was a pleasure to bring our SEN partnership into a project like this. Garry welcomed our team into his new shed, and our own Jarrod talked through the installation and the thinking behind the setup.

A big thank you to Garry for having us out and to SEN for the continued partnership.

Additionally, we captured photos during the installation and a video featuring Garry introducing the project and Jarrod explaining the work. Take a look at the gallery below for a closer look at the setup coming together.

The same thinking, on a different scale

We often share projects involving warehouses, distribution centres and larger storage requirements. Garry’s shed shows how that same practical approach can apply closer to home.

The scale changes, but good storage still starts with understanding what the space needs to do and how people will use it.

Sometimes, making a space work better begins with giving everything a place and leaving room to get things done.
