Jack Johnson on the 2026 GT4 Australia Season
Ahead of the Dexion Victoria Jack Johnson GT4 Australia 2026 campaign, we sat down with Jack to discuss stepping into GT4 competition and the season ahead.
What does stepping into GT4 Australia mean for your career progression?
Stepping into Monochrome GT4 Australia was a deliberate move aligned with my long-term ambition of racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship or IMSA. GT4 provides the ideal proving ground, demanding precision, race craft, tyre management, and strategic thinking within a highly competitive, endurance-focused environment.
How important is it to start strong at Phillip Island in Round 1?
Heading into Round 1 at Phillip Island, my expectation is to start the season strongly and execute cleanly from the outset. It’s a circuit that rewards commitment and precision, so the focus is on getting comfortable quickly, maximising our pace in qualifying, and putting ourselves in a competitive position for the races.
The GT4 Australia calendar spans multiple states and climates. How do you prepare for such diverse circuits?
That starts with simulator work to understand the track layout and refine braking points, lines, and race scenarios. I also spend time reviewing onboard footage and data from previous events. I tailor my training to suit the demands of each circuit and expected climate.
What lessons from your earlier racing career are helping you transition into GT4 competition?
The fundamentals from my earlier racing career have carried over strongly into GT4. Race craft and spatial awareness are crucial in close, competitive fields, and understanding car setup helps me provide clear feedback and adapt the car to different conditions.
GT4 racing involves teamwork and strategy. How important is alignment with your co-driver and crew?
This is so important. We have plenty of experience in the Team and I am looking forward to learning from them and being pushed by them to improve with every performance or opportunity to get in the car.
What goals have you set for the 2026 GT4 Australia Championship?
My Goals are to become stronger with each race. Value the opportunity and work extremely hard.
What does this partnership with Dexion Victoria mean to you?
It means so much to Partner with Dexion Victoria. We value the same things in preparation to perform, high performance, being organised and precision output. I will also learn and develop from the Dexion staff with personal support and leadership.
Why Dexion Victoria Is Backing Jack Johnson
