At Dexion Victoria and National Make Good Solutions, we build long-term partnerships, with our clients, our suppliers and our people.

This year, we’re proud to celebrate a significant milestone: Michael’s 10-year anniversary with Dexion Victoria and National Make Good Solutions (NMGS).

In a time when long tenure is increasingly rare, Michael’s journey stands out, not just for the decade itself, but for the story behind it. From warehouse operations to leadership, his progression reflects what’s possible in a business that values initiative, learning, and the kind of culture people actually want to stay part of.

Starting on the Warehouse Floor

Michael began his career with Dexion Victoria working in the warehouse learning the products, processes and safety standards from the ground up.

That operational foundation continues to influence how he leads today.

You started your journey on the warehouse floor. What do you remember most about those early days?

Michael K: Honestly, what stands out most is the culture, the banter, the camaraderie, and how inclusive the team was from day one. People took the time to talk, help, and share knowledge, regardless of their position in the business. That level of respect and approachability made it easy to learn, ask questions, and feel like you were part of something bigger.

Growing with the Business

Over the past decade, both Dexion Victoria and NMGS have evolved, delivering larger projects, strengthening safety systems, expanding into end-to-end warehouse fit-outs, relocation services and integrated project delivery.

Michael has grown alongside that evolution.

How have you seen Dexion Victoria and NMGS evolve over the past 10 years?

Michael K: Over the last 10 years, I’ve seen major change especially as Dexion Victoria and NMGS became more closely aligned and our capability expanded. A big turning point was the COVID period. Demand shifted quickly and we saw sales increase substantially, which put real pressure on responsiveness and supply. That had a flow-on effect through the business, particularly in the warehouse, ordering patterns changed, lead times tightened, and the amount of stock we carried grew significantly so we could keep projects moving. It was a period that pushed us to adapt fast, improve processes, and lift how we plan and operate.

From Operations to Leadership

Career progression within industrial businesses often comes from practical experience, consistency and a willingness to step forward.

Michael’s journey into management and leadership reflects exactly that.

What do you think enabled you to transition from warehouse operations into leadership?

Michael K: A big part of it was having strong leadership role models within the business, people who set a high standard, backed the team, and showed what good leadership looks like in practice. The other part was taking the time to really understand how things work, not just in my role but across the broader operation. I made a point of learning the processes, asking questions, and building a clear understanding of what drives good outcomes for customers. Over time, that combination of guidance, curiosity and experience helped me step up with confidence.

This progression from hands-on operational work to managing teams and overseeing project delivery, highlights something important:

At Dexion Victoria and NMGS, career growth is built on capability, not titles.

Delivering Impact Across Dexion Victoria and NMGS

Working across both Dexion Victoria and NMGS provides a unique perspective from pallet racking installations and warehouse fit-outs through to relocation and make-good solutions.

This integrated capability allows us to deliver seamless outcomes for clients.

Is there a particular project or milestone that stands out to you during your time here?

Michael K: One standout milestone for me has been the opportunity to see Dexion’s capability on a global scale. Visiting Dexion’s manufacturing facility in Malaysia for the grand opening was a major moment, it really highlighted the quality, engineering and investment that sits behind what we deliver locally.

More recently, attending CeMAT in Singapore and returning to Malaysia to visit the factory again, along with touring a number of major Dexion installations was another highlight. Seeing large-scale projects in operation, and the different ways Dexion solutions are applied across industries, reinforced the strength of the brand and gave me valuable insight that I’ve been able to bring back into how we approach projects and problem-solving here in Australia.

Motivation After a Decade

Ten years in one organisation speaks to more than just job stability, it reflects culture, opportunity and purpose.

What has kept you motivated to continue building your career with Dexion Victoria and NMGS?

Michael K: What’s kept me motivated is the people and the culture. I’ve always enjoyed working alongside a team that supports each other and takes pride in what we deliver. There’s a genuine sense of respect across the business, and that makes a big difference day-to-day. The other key factor has been the opportunity being able to learn, take on new responsibilities, and progress over time. Between Dexion Victoria and NMGS, there’s a lot of variety in the work and plenty of chances to grow if you’re willing to step up.

Advice for the Next Generation

Michael’s journey is an important message to young professionals entering the warehousing, logistics and construction industries.

This sector offers genuine long-term career pathways for those willing to learn, contribute and lead.

What advice would you give someone starting their career at Dexion Victoria today?

Michael K: I’d say take opportunities when they come up and get involved wherever you can. The more you put your hand up whether it’s learning a new process, helping another team, or taking on something outside your usual role the faster you build experience. Multi-skilling is a huge advantage because it helps you understand how the whole business works, not just your part of it. If you stay curious, ask questions, and keep learning different sides of the operation, you’ll set yourself up to progress.

Why Stories Like This Matter

Michael’s 10-year milestone is more than an anniversary, it represents:

As Dexion Victoria continues to expand its capabilities across industrial storage, integrated systems and complete warehouse fit-outs supported by NMGS in relocation and refurbishment leaders who understand the business from the ground up remain critical to our success.

On behalf of the entire team, we thank Michael for his professionalism, loyalty and contribution over the past decade.

Here’s to the next chapter.
